Session Timeout

Session timeout represents the event when a user  does not perform any action on Piktochart Editor for a prolonged period of time. Session timeout is an important security feature. It makes sure sessions close when they are no longer in use.

This pop-up message only appears when the system tries to save and recognizes an expired session. Here are a few scenarios:

Inactivity If your session is idle for more than 2 weeks
Cookie If you cleared your cookie
Logged-out If you opened  multiple tabs for Piktochart and logged out in one of the tabs
Browser Extension Some users added browser extensions like Privacy Badger that can cause glitches. As a workaround, you'll need to disable the extension or use Incognito Window.

Our system will trigger an auto-save every 2 minutes. If you are editing on an expired session, you'll soon realize you're not logged in as an error message as shown above would appear.

Common Questions

My session expired. How do I save my work?

As much as we'd love to help, we won't be able to troubleshoot on your behalf because the session has expired and the data isn't saved on our database.

If you are logged in using a new tab, you will start a new session. To avoid losing the latest content that you did not successfully save, you can follow these steps below:

1
Open another Editor in a new tab. Here's a direct link to a blank infographic.
2
Then, copy the content from the Editor in the  expired tab and paste the content in the  new tab that is currently logged in. Here’s a helpful article.

How do I make sure this doesn't happen again?

We understand how frustrating this situation can be, and we hope it never happens again!

Here are a few things you can do to help makes sure your session doesn't time out:

1
After every Piktochart Session, make sure you  sign out.
2
Periodically  clear your cache and restart your browser. Here is a helpful article.
3
Avoid having more than one editor tab open during your Piktochart session. Even when you log out, the editor tabs will remain open and can cause a session timeout.
