What is VAT?
VAT (Value Added Tax, sometimes known as Sales Tax), is a tax on purchases. VAT must be collected on digital products sold to consumers within the EU, on certain inter-state US transactions, and in a growing number of other countries. It is charged on top of the sale price, and must be returned to the relevant tax authority i.e. the governing body at your location.
A VAT charge will be applied depending on your purchase location. If you are from a country where VAT applies, a VAT charge will be applied to the transaction during checkout. You will see that your final cost price will slightly increase.
Piktochart has partnered with Paddle as our Merchant of Records (MoR) to manage the collection and disbursement of tax.
Tax Refunds for Eligible Tax-Exempt Organizations
Sales tax is applied at checkout by our payment provider. However, if your organization is tax-exempt, you can request a sales tax refund after completing your payment.
Here’s how:
- Submit your organization’s tax-exempt certificate to [email protected]
- Once approved, the sales tax will be refunded — usually within 3 to 5 business days.
- After the exemption is applied to your account, you won’t be charged sales tax on future purchases.
